RuPaul’s DragCon is dedicated to serving all of its attendees and making their experience as enjoyable and entertaining as possible.
If you are an attendee with disabilities, RuPaul’s DragCon has implemented the following policies in order to provide you the best service possible.
In This Article:
- Attendee Registration
- Panel Room Seating
- American Sign Language
- Guide Dogs and Service Animals
- Autograph Lines
When you arrive to register, please go to the VIP/ADA registration area and ask for the Accessible (ADA) staff member to exchange names and phone numbers of your party. You will receive Accessible (ADA) wristbands, which will allow you access to Accessible routs located throughout DragCon, as well as information and directions on how to navigate the floor. Please note that the registration line is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so please be patient. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask the Accessible ADA staff registration member.
Panel Room Seating
In every panel room, a portion of the seating is reserved for attendees with disabilities or mobility issues. Look for the line attendants for direction to an accessible route and waiting area. Keep in mind that these areas are on a first-come, first-serve basis. These seats will be kept open until five minutes before the start of the panel. Please note that our panels can, and will, reach capacity, and reserved seats may be filled. Give yourself a proper time cushion (we recommend at least 10 minutes before the panel starts). It is highly recommended that you do not wait until the last minute to arrive at a panel room, and seating is not guaranteed.
Motorized Mobility Devices may be used by people with mobility impairments subject to reasonable safety restrictions (e.g. exercising extra caution in busy locations such as loading docks and show floors during move-in and move-out periods).
American Sign Language
American Sign Language interpreters will be available for the panels on a first-come, first-serve basis. ASL interpreters will be on hand for panels throughout the weekend. They are located on the second level, next to Compass Café, before the panel room hallways. You will need to request Interpreters before you proceed to the panel, prior to their start. Remember that this service is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Plan ahead and give yourself a proper time to enjoy your panel.
Guide Dogs and Service Animals
Service Animals (i.e. dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities) are welcome at the Los Angeles Convention Center — provided they are leashed or under similar control as appropriate. Trained miniature horses also will be permitted when possible in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Owners take full responsibility for their animals.
When you arrive at an autograph line, please notify the line monitor, and they will accommodate your line entry. Please note that this access does not guarantee a “no wait” time as autographs will be delivered on a first come, first serve bases. This access is provided to minimize navigation through lines.
If you have medication or special needs that needs refrigeration, please be aware that neither RuPaul’s DragCon nor the Los Angeles Convention Center can provide refrigerators. You should bring a cooler or insulated bag to accommodate your own needs.
Please take care to plan your day in advance.
Please keep in mind that RuPaul’s DragCon cannot guarantee any seating, autographs, or giveaways.
